financial markets are in turmoil all over the world. The recession has hit
almost every job sector. To fight with the financial crisis a lot of companies
are laying off employees or reducing their pay packages. Naturally, there is a
huge pool of talented but jobless professionals in the market who are now looking
for a new job.
At the
same time, a lot of people who are holding their position in their current companies
are also looking to change to a more stable company. However, a lot of them are
also reluctant to shift to a new company due to uncertainty. – but they are not
sure about the actual financial condition of the new company either. All of a
sudden, the financial stability of a company has become the prime concern for a
lot of potential employees. It is not just about the position or salary or
scope of work; it is trying to ensure that you will still have this new job in
6 months time.
Though
there is a financial crisis across many industries, there are also a lot of job
openings. If you look at the trends, a lot of employers are looking for
multitasking employees to optimize the overall output per person. Good
professionals are still in demand. However, to prove your worth as a good
professional, you must have the time, opportunity and the right employer. Therefore
you need to find a good company. So, how to find a good company?
Before you start looking for a new job it is always sensible
to work out your reasons for a change. What is it that you are lacking in your
present company or what is it that you do not like? What are the things that
you enjoy in your present company? Then make a list of what you want to have in
the new company. This process may be a little bit time consuming but once you
have done this, it will help you to find the best company to suit your
potential needs.
For example, you may be looking for London jobs
in your niche; so once you can identify this starting point you will actually
save a lot of time by not applying for companies with jobs outside
Here are the points you may consider to find the best
employer in your category:
Company Background
Check: Whenever
you come across a job advertisement in your category, do some research online
to learn about the company. Social networks are sometimes better than the
company website. You can also talk to someone who has already worked with the
company. Its also likely to benefit you in the interview if they release that you have done your research
before facing the interview board.
Interview the
interviewer: The
companies conduct interviews to find the best person for their post and you
also have an opportunity to ask the interviewer questions – this can help you
to find out if the company is suitable for you or not. Do not forget to learn
about their financial status if at all possible. Good interviewers often put
these things forward while introducing themselves. As you have already
developed a list of what you want, it should be easy for you to ask whatever
you need to know. However, you should act tactfully when asking your questions.
Terms and Conditions: Some companies have their own
terms and conditions for employees. Do not forget to read them before joining
the company.
And finally – make sure you know where you are moving to
before you resign from your current company!
