Use of fiberglass components in the construction of buildings has become universally accepted now with more and more building contractors resorting to the use of this extremely flexible and durable material in their designs. Being made out of very fine glass fibers, earlier, fiberglass was used only in the manufacture of boats and tanks and later on as vehicle parts and canopies for building extensions. Today however, fiberglass is being used prolifically in homes, offices and buildings for industrial purposes.

Having taken the construction world by storm, more and more builders are resorting to the use of fiberglass doors and windows when constructing building for domestic and industrial purposes. Those who have already installed fiberglass products in their homes have nothing but praise for this amazingly flexible material that seems to have no fault in its making. Research has shown that window frames made out of fiberglass is seen as the fastest growing segment in the building industry for several years now.

As we are well aware, Insulation is significant in its importance in protecting the environment. It is believed that wherever buildings have been insulated the emission of carbon dioxide to the environment has been vastly reduced. Apart from making building more energy efficient, installation of fiberglass insulation reduces the need to use fossil fuel combustion for the purpose of cooling and heating homes and industrial buildings. When building new houses, insulation is carried out by using fiberglass blankets which come in rolls and are cut to size before being installed.

The fiberglass doors that are available in the market today are things of beauty that can be installed in any home or office with pride. Looking like real wood they come in all colors to match the dcor in any home or can be bought in the natural wood grain designs with the wood stained to resemble real wood. The advantage of fiberglass doors opposed to real wooden doors is that unlike real wood, fiberglass does not rot, become moldy or get bent and warped under extreme temperatures and harsh environmental conditions. Fiberglass can withstand all types of weather apart from adding a real look of beauty and elegance to any building. Fiberglass window frames are no different, with the added benefit of being highly resistant to condensation. This makes it possible to keep the levels of humidity under control as a result of which you will hardly see any signs of mildew or mold on any fiberglass window.

It is quite obvious now that fiberglass products have become the “in” thing in construction material meeting the needs of architects, builders and owners who are looking beyond the limitations found in traditionally used materials such as wood, vinyl and aluminum. In order to make a difference and set new heights in energy efficiency, cost saving, extra comfort and aesthetic beauty in the products they use, fiberglass has definitely found favor and is here to stay for a very long time.
